In the face of immediate and increasing climate change challenges and natural and man-made disasters of varying types, accessing grant funds to develop and implement preparedness and adaptation programs is increasingly important. Studies make it clear that relatively few people consider themselves "prepared" for a disaster, making response operations exponentially harder when disaster, whether associated with climate change or due to another source, does strike. While on a global scale, climate change threats are often similar, the specific challenges individual communities and organizations face, and when they face them, can differ markedly and well planned preparedness efforts can effectively merge climate change issues with general disaster scenarios. With over 20 years of environmental consulting and political experience, I provide expertise in the intersection of resiliency engineering, policy making and politics. This expertise, combined with my legal experience and grant writing history, allows me help individuals and organizations find relevant resiliency grants and develop applications that meet specific needs. I have a JD from Boston College Law School, an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School, over a decade of experience as a Cambridge City Councilor, 19 years of experience as an Environmental Consultant to the Army Reserves and 4 years as a Marine Corps infantry officer. I have helped write a variety of grants as well as an environmental compliance handbook and an environmental novel. I would be available to work on either an hourly or project basis.
