Hi, my name is Ian P. Campbell, and I came to this site in search of freelance opportunities in creative journalistic writing as well as proofreading and editing work. I graduated from UC Irvine with a Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law, and Society in 2010, and have been an active writer since my time in high school, where I was the primary writer for the school newspaper. That journalistic bent continued through college, where I was a regular and sometimes primary contributor to several campus publications, and I have also had articles ranging a fairly wide scope of literary categories published in a number of "DIY"/alternative publishing "zines" since my time graduated. In recent years I have focused mainly on off-the-cuff music, concert, product, and movie reviews that I self-publish on a blog now over a decade strong, as well as conversational interviews with underground musicians and artists, and a large archive of abstract poetry that is unrelated to those more formal pursuits but consumes a similar mindspace nonetheless. I am also highly proficient in editing the work of others, with an aim to help anyone I work with achieve the most impact possible in as clear a manner given their individual style and subject matter. I will work with anyone on anything to ensure their original message and delivery remains intact while scrubbing off the edges that every writer normally won't perceive without at least one set of understanding outside eyes. My foremost aim is to find steady yet multi-dimensional freelance work showcasing both my passion for local and otherwise unreported current events as well as my deep, often personal knowledge of - and seasoned, often humorously searing critique of - current and classic underground/DIY/counterculture music.
