Writer in Clermont, Florida

I'm an
Individual
My name is Michael (M.C.) Myers. I am a flexible full-time writer with experience in tutoring at the collegiate and professional level, in editing for grammar, content, and style-specific citation, and in writing for myself on news publications, film and video game editorial/ review publications, and in academic libraries. Below, I have listed my relevant experience. If you have any further questions or would like a more detailed resume, please don't hesitate to contact me at my email: [email protected] Thank you for your consideration. My experience as a student in English Literature guided my work in and out of academia. The publication of my 50,000-word research thesis (entitled, "The Early Modern Space") gave me the opportunity not only to expand my understanding of literature and earn university honors, but to research, edit, and publish the piece through the library following approval by a board of PhDs in my field. The university also funded my internship with the online news publication College Vox and laid the groundwork for my continued work as an editor and columnist. With them, I worked for one year as a contributor in politics, arts, and entertainment, and then for another year as the editor-in-chief and recruiter of their Orlando branch. As a film reviewer, I am semi-regular on the academic film journal, Bright Lights Film. My published articles may be viewed here: http://....com/ They represent a small cross-section of my enduring love of film and essay-writing, demonstrating my ability to work within the medium as a critic and scholar. I am also the creator of the video game editorial and review column called "Game Objective" on IG Critic. All my published work appears under the name "M.C. Myers." I graduated summa with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a minor in Writing & Rhetoric. In addition to my internship with College Vox, I also worked for three years as a university writing tutor editing, writing, and teaching for collegiate and professional-level writers. This experience scaffolded my ability to work with others on their work, granting me a unique position to be, not only a writer, but someone with the language to talk about writing on an academic level. I consider this particular experience my essential logos in negotiating with writers, whether in writing a piece for specific guidelines or editing someone else's work. In order to be more proficient at this job, I took courses in other areas of interest -- Calculus, Studio Art, World History -- to better communicate with any writer on their work, negotiate any assignment, and complete any task. Thank you for viewing my profile and for considering me for your position. I can be most easily reached by email. I look forward to hearing from you.
