My name is Jess Parker, and I run Ink Reveries Fiction Editing. You've finally transcribed those daydreams into a solid story that you can be proud of, congratulations! The next step is one of the hardest ones: editing. Even if you've run your story through several rounds of edits on your own, it's hard to be objective with something that holds so much of you! I offer three major types of edits: An initial Developmental Edit. This is an Editorial Letter giving you direction for improving the overall story. A Line Edit, which is a line-by-line annotation of your story, offering suggestions on story while also cleaning up the prose. (All done with Track Changes, so you can accept or reject everything.) And a Copy Edit. This edit cleans up word choice, grammar, sentence and paragraph structure. It makes sure that your story looks good and reads smoothly. It does not offer feedback on your story, just the presentation of it. I also do proofreads, for that final pass to make sure everything is shiny, pretty, and as perfect as you can make it look. Prices vary by edit chosen and the state of the manuscript. I prefer to do a free 2,500 word sample to assess the manuscript and offer a price and turnaround appropriate to each individual work.
