November 5, 2016 Dear Human Resources: My writing and journalism experience around the world and my education in communications and public relations makes me an excellent candidate to fill your company’s writer position. I am currently working as a freelance writer. That experience includes working for Pacific Business News in Honolulu. I covered health and medicine, and other subjects. I also blogged and tweeted for PBN. I learned that company’s content management system. Prior to working at Pacific Business News I freelanced for Patch..... in the San Francisco Bay Area. I reported, edited stories, posted articles online, and shot photos and video for Patch. My experience includes working for almost two years as a limited-tenure reporter for the military’s independent newspaper, Stars and Stripes in Europe, covering every branch of the armed forces while I worked at bases in Germany, England, and Italy. I covered President Obama during my time in Europe, pitched stories to editors, and I covered military operations in Afghanistan at times. Stars and Stripes and I agreed to extend my initial 13-month contract until the position was eliminated in March 2010. During my time at Stars and Stripes I wrote extensively about scientific subjects such as the military developing lasers, medicine, and other subjects. I also covered police and public safety as well as San Francisco International Airport for the Daily News Group, which is part of the largest print newsgroup in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Bay Area News Group. The newspaper group’s publications include the San Jose Mercury News and Oakland Tribune. During my time in the Bay Area, I covered Stanford University, which included interviewing two Nobel Prize winners from the university in the same week, and general assignment. I transferred beats to cover San Francisco International Airport, public safety, and several cities south of San Francisco. My experience in the Bay Area includes working for ANG Newspapers, which became part of the Bay Area News Group, for more than two years.
