I'm an
Individual
My interest in scriptwriting is sparked by my love for theater, film, and television, and experiences in the writing, training, and teaching of scriptwriting across these three mediums. After spending a year as a long-time substitute teacher for Anne Arundel public schools, I transitioned to higher education and have since served as both an administrator and teacher at the University of Maryland, College Park. In these roles, I have worked with a diverse population of students, designed courses, developed efficient and effective training strategies, delivered innovative workshops/presentations, and led tutors, faculty, and students to advance connections between oral and written communication. In addition, I serve as an instructional designer and training coordinator for blended learning (half face-to-face and half online) and online seminars. I’ve also created and developed courses in composition, tutor training, and creative scriptwriting for theatre, film and television. In fact, a scriptwriting course I wrote—Writing to be Seen—continues to be a major success. I completed my PhD in Theatre, Film, and Television at the University of York in the United Kingdom, and my writing and research profile informs my teaching and training. I've written scripts for across genres and mediums, and, as a result of teaching and training effectiveness, I have been recognized as Supervisor of the Year, awarded the Donna B. Hamilton Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and the Professional Track Faculty Teaching Award, and have twice received recognition from my student athletes by being named Most Valuable Professor (M.V.P.). I hope you see that I would bring my enthusiasm for and expertise in instructional design and teaching as an education coordinator for center stage.
