Writer Job in Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Seeking a professional from the Roaring Fork Valley (Glenwood Springs to Aspen) that has in depth knowledge of the region. An experienced Freelance writer (5 years minimum) interested in an Editors position may apply for this position as well. THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION, OFFERING 12-14 HOURS A WEEK. The editor is responsible for supervising the magazine, freelancers/staff and organizing all editorial content for the monthly publication. THE EDITOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THAT ALL STORIES ARE OF INTEREST TO THE READERS. Major Responsibilities: 1. Plans and assigns editorial for all issues 2. Acts as liaison between editorial and advertising aspects of the magazine 3. Prepares agenda for weekly phone meetings with you, and meets with you directly at least 1 time / month (based on needs). 4. Enforces the magazine’s policy and procedures, including deadlines and style 5. Hires, fires and promotes freelance contractors (writers and photographers) 6. Handles telephone and e-mail inquiries in a timely fashion. Forwards messages to the appropriate person. 7. Keeps track of stipend payments for freelancers. Submits this information to the publisher monthly. 8. Creates a monthly calendar of events featuring 20-40 local events with pertinent details. Events should appeal to the target demographics of the publication. 9. Handles communications with the Production Coordinator regarding planned editorial.
