Writer in Toronto, Ontario

Hello! Firstly, my name is Michael Robert Bigelow. I am a writer as well as a musician, and currently reside in the Parkdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario. From creative writing to music, my career has always adhered to a creative trajectory. Over the years I have toured nationally and internationally with various musical groups, including Wintersleep, Vanishing Hand, Holy F, and Contrived, written creative short fiction, essays and poetry for my own personal website (www.....com) as well as others, provided copywriting and transcription services, written art grants, and have been a private instructor of both music and art classes for children and adults alike. In addition to being a writer, I am also (of course), an avid reader, as I strongly believe the two activities are intrinsic to the blossoming of creativity. Considering the aforementioned, it seems natural that I tend to gravitate towards the challenges put forth by the realm of creative employment. I am extremely self sufficient, and jump at the opportunity to delve headfirst into any given writing project that finds its way across my desk. In terms of individual writing projects, I seek a myriad of returns, for example the opportunity to fuse my creative spirit with the required demands of the employer for an outcome that benefits both parties, as well as the opportunity to take an idea from one or a group of individuals and see to it that, no matter what, that idea comes to fruition, and excites and compels the employer when held up to the original inkling or idea that surfaced. Also, I am exceptionally versed in working in both solitary as well as group environments. Though writing itself may be a solitary activity, ideas certainly benefit from the act of conversation and assembling that only social situations can provide. Furthermore, I love literature of all kinds, and above all else the act of writing itself is an act I thoroughly and legitimately enjoy. It is largely beneficial when the act of 'work' doesn't feel like 'work', sometimes a word that carries with it a lot of negative connotations. I am especially eager to write as much as possible, as I am to work with new individuals and/or companies.
