I’ve had an extensive marketing and communications career working with a diverse group of complex companies from insurance and financial organizations to telecommunications. A lifelong learner, I have a firm understanding of digital marketing and practical experience with a broad range of tactics, including articles, case studies, newsletters, and web content. At Start....., an internet service provider, I was responsible for planning, creating, and managing all marketing content and worked closely between all departments to gather information. I wrote social media posts, all consumer communications (e.g., web content, direct mail, radio ads and marketing emails) and established quality standards for all marketing materials. This role encompassed the entire marketing cycle and included branding the company and maintaining its voice, building positive consumer relationships through effective communication, and digital marketing to increase brand awareness. Before that, I was a marketing writer at a major Canadian insurance company where I wrote financial articles, web content, and brochures about life insurance. I have a passion for creative, audience-focused writing, no matter what form it takes. I know how to ask the right questions to get to the core need and I thrive on delivering messages that get results. One of my biggest strengths is my ability to simplify complex information and make it easy for anyone to understand. My philosophy is that marketing is all about connection. That means you need to put yourself in the reader’s shoes. What information do they need to clearly understand a topic? What are their pain points? What problems do they have? When you understand their needs, you can create communication pieces that drive the reader to act. I call this creativity that sells.
