Writer in Washington, District of Columbia
Hello! I am a professional writing instructor and research writer who has been working as an educator for almost 8 years at the elementary, secondary, and adult level. I am a CELTA certified English Language instructor and tutor who graduated with a CELTA-B from Cambridge's program in 2007. I have taught research writing at the college level for 6 years, and have very positive instructor reviews from my supervisors at the University of Florida and Trinity Washington University. I also work as a contracted research writer on a number of federal and private projects related to social groups and history in the Americas (North, Central, South, including Native American history). Writing about political and social theory, as well as literature and film analysis is also a strength (I have taught college courses on these topics). I am an IB graduate and am familiar with their programs, and am gifted at making difficult theoretical, literary, or writing concepts seem easy/accessible to students. I also taught at a Montessori ESE charter school in Gainesville, Florida. I am a Spanish speaker, and was asked to teach Spanish at the University of Florida before I decided to move to Gainesville to accept a position at Vanderbilt. I now work as a research writer for the government. Love writing about: gender, feminism, race/racism, transportation policy, transit, anthropology, ethnography, popular culture, cultural studies, literature, South American history/politics, Peru, etc.
