Writer in Jersey City, New Jersey

I have known James since the fall of 2016 when a group of neighborhood activists, including myself, formed a new community association. James was one of the local residents who showed up at our first meeting. He immediately impressed me with his thoughtful questions and comments, and we asked him to join our board as an at-large representative. He is one of our most active members and also chairs our History Committee, which is dedicated to increasing public awareness of our local history. He lectured at one of our meetings last year and has led two walking tours, with a third one coming up in a couple of weeks. I asked him to serve as our representative on a committee led by the city's Cultural Affairs Office. He also serves as vice president of a local historical society. James prepares very comprehensive and well-written reports on the association's History Committee. He is also very good at correcting any errors that crop up in my own reports or draft communications that I circulate to our board before issuing them. I'm a retired journalist myself, having spent most of my career as a reporter and editor with The Journal of Commerce, and consider myself to be a very good writer and editor. That said, everybody needs an editor, and it's nice to know that I have someone as conscientious and skilled as James checking my communications for the association.
