Dear Sir or Madame: I would like to express my strong interest in a writing position. As a passionate writer, feminist, social rights advocate, and an assiduous individual, I believe I would serve as an asset. Often, my poems involve social constructs, memories, feminism, identity, gender roles and performance, and the future. Because of my love for the written word and my social perspective to, I consider myself an perfect fit. I enjoy community involvement and believe this work would enable me to engage myself at full. Currently, I serve as a first-year Poetry MFA student at Sarah Lawrence College, where I am a General Reader for Lumina and a Social Media Coordinator for Sarah Lawrence's Poetry Festival. Previously, I worked as Merchandise Supervisor at Barnes and Noble, where I hosted Open Mic Poetry Nights and advertised them through social media, former professors, etc. In addition, I served as Public Relations Volunteer at the Charleston County Library, where I edited the monthly newsletter. Also, I have co-led writing workshops, for Carolina Youth Action Project, my Advanced Poetry course, etc., and I performed two feature shows. Due to my driven nature and experience with writing, editing, and social involvement, I would thrive in this realm. I consider myself well-organized and technologically savvy, type over 100 words per minute, and am proficient with the majority of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc., and most social media platforms. Poems of mine appear, or will appear, in Heartland Review, City Quill, Free State Review, Poetry Quarterly, Unspoken Word Anthology 2017, and others. Thank you for your consideration.
