Kyra O. Davenport is a superb writer, in every way. I met Ms. Davenport when she was a soldier in the U.S. Army, working as the administrative specialist in the Emergency Operations Center in the Headquarters of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C. She came to our Public Affairs Office and asked if she could work with us to gain experience in public affairs. Since then, I have coached Ms. Davenport on a number of articles and other written projects, edited her work, and talked frequently and at length with her. So I can vouch for her commitment to excellence in all of her writing. Ms. Davenport graduated from Tuskegee University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She holds a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Howard University. Her real-world experience includes freelance writing on a wide variety of topics for Blasting News, the Rogers Review, and Washington Afro-American Newspapers, She has her own blog, “Conversations with Kyra O. on the White House and the World” (www.conversationswithkyrao.com). As her blog’s name indicates, Ms. Davenport has White House press credentials, and has regularly covered events at the White House. Besides her experience with our Public Affairs Office, Ms. Davenport’s previous position as Communications Manager with the Office of the Chief of Chaplains has given her extensive experience in corporate communications, plus experience working in the Pentagon. In addition, Ms. Davenport is a veteran, and she understands the U.S. Army’s values of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Service, Honor, Integrity, and Courage, and lives by them in everything she does, including writing.
