Writer in Los Angeles, California

I'm an
Individual
I'm a Los Angeles based freelancer specializing in the unexplored areas of pop culture. From flash writing and promotional micro copy to 3,000 word investigative features, I have a decade of experience harnessing complex issues with electrical copy. My creed is very simple: say it with less, but get it right. As a copy editor, I'm ruthless. As a researcher, I wield a fine tooth comb and strong digging instincts. In a world of culture where rote and boring is the order of the day, I specialize in excavating unexplored areas and providing new perspectives on old issues. My work includes coverage of thrift stores in California's Central valley, occult-adoring darkwave music standouts, Civil War re-enacting, pirate festivals, cheap food in Downtown Los Angeles, petrol geo-politics, forgotten urban geographies, Virginia's musical heritage and the lasting legacy of Agent Orange. I began my career as contributor and editor for Science Diet's in-house publication, The Kibble Times, and as a copywriter for the Hollywood-based Museum of Death's famed Chaos Gallery. Since then, my work has been published by the LA Times, LA Weekly, Salon, and PopMatters. For six years, I have been a Calendar Editor and Feature Contributor for the CNPA award-winning Arts and Entertainment team at the LA Downtown News. As a historical researcher, I have worked on a number of projects including Liz Goldwyn's LA prostitution epic "Sporting Guide," Dr. Bill Deverell's historic profile of the West after the Civil War "To Bind the Nation's Wounds," and artist Rob Reynolds' (of LCD Soundsystem cover art fame) experiential art show "Vanishing Point."
